Desde então a data começou a ganhar espaço em diversos países e se tornou uma comemoração internacional anual.Michael Page também é o responsável pela Bandeira do Orgulho Bissexual, lançada em 1998 e com toda uma teoria por trás: a faixa rosa corresponde a 40% da bandeira e representa a atração por pessoas do mesmo sexo; a faixa azul também preenche 40% da bandeira e representa a atração pelo sexo oposto; as duas cores quando sobrepostas, formam um leve tom de roxo que simboliza a atração por ambos os sexos e ocupa 20% da bandeira.
Raven Wilbur considera o dia essencial pois ao contrário da crescente visibilidade e espaço obtidos por gays e lésbicas, os bissexuais se tornaram invisíveis, sofrendo discriminação entre os heterossexuais e até entre os LGBT.
